The variety and quality of educational opportunities at this year’s NFMT Orlando sets a new high bar. The free conference and exposition takes place Nov. 13-14, 2019 at the Orlando Convention Center.
John D’Angelo, assistant vice president of facilities operations at the University of Chicago, will speak at the main plenary session along with two other high-level facility managers. The session, titled “Achieving 2020 Vision in Facilities Management,” takes place 11/13 at 8 a.m. It will give attendees concrete advice on how to do strategic visioning for the upcoming year. D’Angelo, whose strong work at Northwestern University earned him a cover story profile in the January 2018 issue of Building Operating Management, has since moved to the University of Chicago, where he leads a staff of 210 facility professionals.
On 11/14 at 10:30 am, John Dumsick and Michael Kearns from the U.S. Department of State will present “When In Rome...The Maintenance and Repair of Culturally Significant Diplomatic Structures.” The session will detail the speakers’ experience with unique and important buildings and monuments, both domestically and overseas. The speakers promise some fascinating example projects in Italy.
Randy Olson, vice president of global business development for the ProFM Credential program, along with Stormy Friday of the Friday Group and Ericka Westgard of C&W Services, will present on 11/14 at 10:30 am on the “Top Facility Management Skills Needed To Succeed.” The session will cover the four key functional knowledge areas and cross-functional competencies required of facility management.
